INSTALLATION:-
============

Scenario *.sav files created on PTW 1.14f so you'll need v1.14f or higher to play.
Zip file consist of the game in .sav or .bix format (whichever you downloaded), PediaIcons.txt and the Bunker unit flc/wav files. Oh, and this readme txt file of course.

You need to copy the following five unit folders from the WWII unit extras that comes with PTW at the following location
x:\Civilization III\CIV3PTW\extras\World War II\Art\Units where 'x' is the drive letter where Civ3 is installed. Note that you may have not have name your Civilization III game folder the same as mine above.

Copy the above unit folder to your x:\Civilization III\Art\units folder including downloaded Bunker unit file folder from the zip file.

The following are the obvious things that you need to do, reserved from newbies.
If you downloaded the *.sav, copy the sav file to 
x:\Civilization III\CIV3PTW\Saves
If you downloaded the *.bix copy the bix file to 
x:\Civilization III\CIV3PTW\Scenarios
Make a backup of your original PediaIcons.txt in the 
x:\Civilization III\CIV3PTW\Text
and replace it with the one you downloaded.

To those who are familiar, the following are the lines you need to add to your Unit animations section of your PediaIcons.txt file so that you do not need use the downloaded copy.

SCENARIO INTRODUCTION:-
=====================

It is the year 2005. Fundamendalist radicals from Pakistan detonated stolen nuclear arsenal from Pakistan's military at the historical India city of Agra resulting in an all out war. Pro-western Arab states under pressure by America who is eager to stamp out proliferation of nuclear arms in Islamic countries send a coalition force to 'secure' Pakistan's nuclear arms, i.e. war. Play as president General Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan whose job now is to prevail against India and Western-Arabic coalition's incoming onslaught. More countries may join in the war against you if you decide to use more of your nuclear arms. Control the South Asia continent to ensure security and dominance of Pakistan. Victory when Domination or Conquest is acheived within 4 years (208 week-turn).

General Musharraf says: "My generals, we have to prepare ourselves from a nuclear attack from India as they consider the recent nuclear incident at Agra as a 'first strike' attack orchestred by the Government of Pakistan... which you all know is a lie. The failure of our security at our nuclear weapons lab has resulted in this dire consequences which we must face. So far our eternal enemy India has not yet gain wide spread support for war in this region as many of the other nations gave us a benefit of doubt. But unfortunately the American are not one of them, they wish to 'secure' our nuclear facility right away as they do not believe we can keep the weapons off  terrorist's hands. Curses upon the spineless Arabic states that serve as the US military platform in the Gulf. We now have to face enemies from both flanks now. As India is most likely to use nuclear weapons, we have to attack now with our army eastward straight into the heart of India. There is no point for us to sit and defend in Pakistan as their nuclear arms will destroy us all in our own trenches and cities. We shall take this moment as well to liberate Kashmir once and for all. We may need to go beyond India to ensure our security as we cannot allow any country in this region that is friendly to the West to possibly harbor future US bases. Let's call for our countrymen to rise to the call of Jihad and fight for Pakistan's future. Onwards to victory!"

Strategic info from Pakistan military inteligence and advisory: India has nuclear tipped warheads within firing range (6 tiles) ready for immediate deployment in the border city of Bikaner (near India's first nuclear test site) as well as in Ajmer and Muzaffarnagar. We only have one warhead ready. 
We have two options with this:-
a) Use it. But it will reflect very badly on us as it confirms the first strike is certainly from us. Note that we import oil from Iran meaning that this option may put that supply in jeopardy.
b) Use it only after India's 'first strike'. This help create opposition to India first but we have to bear the pain of lost of lives. We should  position our armies away from cities that are within the strike range.
As of the Western-Arabic coalition forces coming from West and southern shores, there are three carrier groups in the Gulf region with a veteran invasion force that was used against Iraq in the previous Gulf War.

NOTE for Regent sav file players. The AI offensive capability has been slashed by reducing the starting # of units. On India, a 50%-60% reduction in various tank units, 20-40% reduction in infantry based units and 20% reduction in naval power. Tactical nuke in Ajmer, India removed hence has only two warheads at the start. Arabs-US coalition airpower slashed by 50%, naval about 20%. Offensive ground units slashed about 50% as well including sea transport to slow-down ferrying of troops. Other AI has also 5-50% reduction in ground, air, naval units especially those with large offensive force. At least a 1/3 reduction in starting #nuclear arsenal in AI states that possessed such weapons including removal of China's ICBM. Also, mutual protection pact and Military alliance available from start unlike other higher difficulty level save files.

Tanks:-

1) T-55 (16/10/2) - Available to all except Arabic States. Cost 100.
2) T-72 (18/12/3) - Not available to Pakistan, Arabia, Bangladesh, Nepal. Cost 110.
3) Type 90 Chinese Al Khalid (20/14/3) - Available to China and Pakistan only. Cost 120. Upgradeble to T80/T90.
4) T80/T90 Russian (22/15/3) - Available to former Russian States, China, India, Iran, Pakistan when Synthetic Fibers researched. Cost 130.
5) M1A2 Abrams (24/16/3) - Available to Arabia only.


Troopers:-

1) Jihadi (3/4/1) - Only for Pakistan. No support cost required. Triggers Golden Age. Cost 30. 
2) Riflemen (4/6/1) - Cost lowered to 50.
3) Guerilla (8/8/1) - Boosted stat to increase relevance. Cost 60.
4) Anti-tank squad (6/10/1) - Cheaper cost than infantry, fair defense value compared to its cost of 60. Requires rubber.
5) Infantry (8/12/1) - Primary defending unit with enhanced stat to reflect modern infantry. Cost 70. NOT upgradeble to Mech. Infantry.
6) Commando (14/10/1) - Infantry with strong attack stat for assault. Cost 80. Requires rubber.
7) Marine (12/10/1) - Available to India, Pakistan, Arabia. Amphibious unit. Cost 90. Same capability as original Marine except stat enhancement and lowered cost.
8) Paratrooper (8/10/1) - Same capability as original Para but enhanced stat and lowered cost at 80.
9) Mechanized Infantry stat and cost maintained.
10) Calvary (6/3/3) - Cost lowered to 60. Same goes for Cossack.
11) Mujahedin (8/3/3) - Afghanistan's calvary type UU. Cost 70.
12) Other civ's obsulete UU are made cheaper such as War Elephant, Riders, Ansar Warrior and Immortals. This is to help trigger GA as not to deprive them of it.

Bombard units:-

1) No change in basic Artilery, Jet Fighter and Naval units.
2) Mobile Rocket Launcher (0/0/2) - Stat same as original Radar Artilery but with movement increased to 2 from 1. Available when Robotics researched. Cost maintained at 120.
3) Bunker (0/20/1) - Immobile fortification with bombard capability. not buidable. Bombard strength 16, range 2, ROF 2. Has ZOC. HP bonus 3. Radar capability. Some of the bunkers is on fortification giving additional 50% defense. Since the bunker graphic will mask the presence of a fortification, you can check by doing right-click info on the tile. Hint: Normally, only bunkers at key road/railroad position or direct cross border route is on fortification tiles.
4) Surface-to-surface(SS) missile - name replacement for original Cruise missile. Bombard range increased from 2 to 3, other stat unchanged.
5) Stealth planes B-2 and F-117A available to Arabia only. Bombers and stealth bombers have lethal Sea bombarment.Take full advantage of this capability!
6) F-15 - unique unit for Arabia only.
7) Tactical Nuke availability moved to Rocketry from Space Flight.


OTHER MODIFICATION:-

1) Writing and Nationalism advances would not enable Military Alliance and Mutual Protection Pact (except Regent level). Moved to Ecology instead. Not that it has anything to do with it but it is to deter everyone from ganging up at turn #1 on powerful India which is not likely to happen in the real world. Only after Ecology researched (the lowest costing Modern Advance) can only these two diplomatic option available. The only reason is to delay availability from start. Take it as countries wishing to 'stay out' out the issue at the begining. 
2) City improvement such as Manufacturing Facility and Offshore Platform made available at Computers Advance instead of Robotics and Miniaturization respectively. 
3) To prevent 'over-railroading' that simply looks unrealistic, resource of iron and coal is limited on map. Base turn for railroading increase from 12 to 24.
4) Since it gonna be a 'dirty' and polluted map, pollution clean up cost reduce from 24 to 12.
5) Settler unit removed obviously hence no new cities can be establish.
6) Communism and Monarchy government unit support modified from 2, 4, 8 for town, city and metropolis to 4, 8, 12 respectively to enable human players to support larger armies. Didn't really matter to the AI as they have the tendency to switch to Democracy despite being preset to these two. Can't lock government type for AI. 

WONDERS:-
=======

The game wonders are assimiliated to fit into this scenario. Majority are simply renamed while retaining the effects. Any deviation from original is only done necessarily and is described. One of the main reason for inclusion for all wonders at the start of the game is to prevent AI from randomly building them.

To represent communist state food distribution network.

2) Hanging Garden - Potala Palace (Lhasa, China)
The monumental Buddhist monk temple in the mountains of Tibet.

3) Colussus - OPEC Oil Trade (Doha, Qatar of Arabia)
Oil export trade power.

4) Great Lighthouse - Fort Aguda (Goa, India)
The oldest lighthouse in Asia in the former trading city of Goa.

5) Great Library - Delhi University (Delhi, India)

6) Oracle - Pashupatinath Temple (Katmandu, Nepal)
The holiest Hindu Temple in the world.

7) Great Wall - no change (Da Qaidam, China)
Town is closest in this scenario to the one end where the Great Wall ended, 300-400km away! Forgive me for the inaccuracy ;)

8) Sun Tzu - no change (Urumqi, China)
Selected Urumqi as it is deep inside China teritory. Correct location will be off-map like the Great Wall.

9) Sistine Chapel - Taj Mahal (Agra, India)
Monumental palace build by some king for some wife I think, an important national landmark associated with India.

10) Magellan - US Naval Command (Doha, Qatar of Arabia)
Actual base is in Bahrain but Doha is just next to it and is the command centre for US in the Gulf region. This wonder is to showcase  American's superior naval prowness.

11) Copernicus - Nizamiah Observatory in Osmania University (Hyderabad, India)
The oldest observatory in India. 
Note there are two Hyderabad(s) in the map, one in India, one in Pakistan.

12) Shakespears - Bollywood (Bombay, India)
India's own Hollywood.

13) Leonardo - CIA network (Kabul, Afghanistan)
US monetary and technical support for the fragile Afghan goverment enable upgrades at half cost.

14) JS Bach - Hazratbal Shrine (Srinagar, Kashmir of India)
Houses the sacred hair of the Prophet Mohammad. Securing this holy site from India is sure to make your Muslim majority Pakistan to be happy! Main price for liberating key Kashmiri city.

15) Newton - University of Mumbai (Bombay, India)

16) Smith Trading - British East India Company (Calcutta, India)
Major trading company with history of hundreds of years in Asia.

17) Universal Suffrage - Spirit of Jihad (Islamabad, Pakistan)
The sentiments of the people are all whipped up in preparation of the great war with India using religious undertones... forgeting that they are in a state of despair economically.

18) Hoover Dam - Three Gorges Dam (Qamdo, China)
Enough power equivalent to 18 nuclear power plants, this super dam project displaces more than 1 million people. Reservoir spans a length of 600km+. City location is again off the mark but the closest in proximity to the real thing. But then again, this super-dam cannot be located within a city! :)

19) Theory of Evolution - University of Xinjiang (Urumqi, China)

20) UN - UN Middle East HQ (Dubai, UAE of Arabia)
Note, Diplomatic Victory not enabled.

21) Manhattan - The WMD Project (Bikaner, India)
First nuclear test site in South Asia.

22) Cure for Cancer - Kashmir Conflict Victory Point (Jammu, Kashmir of India)
Happiness bonus if you can liberate this city in the disputed Kashmir region. One of the two largest cities in Kashmir under Indian control.

23) Longevity - Largest City of India (Bombay, India)
Bombay is the 3rd largest city in the world with a population of 18million. This wonder that increase the pop size by two instead of one when the granary if full helps ensure this remains true during the course of the game! Just for your info, Calcutta (13kk) is the 2nd largest in India and for Pakistan, it's largest city is Karachi(12kk). These facts will change if somebody decided to land a nuke...

24) SETI - University of Engineering & Technology (Lahore, Pakistan)

25) Internet - Silicon Valley of India (Hyderabad, India)
Location suppose to be Bangalore (off-map) that is further south of Hyderabad. Effects of one research lab in every city is change to +50% increase in Tax, Science and Luxury as a more realistic possibility.

26) Pentagon renamed to Central Military Command.

27) Wall St renamed to National Central Bank.


CIVILISATION DESCRPITION:-
========================

There are 9 sides on these map that you as Pakistan suppose to dominate over.

1) Pakistan - lead by President General Pervez Musharraf.
Scenario design around playing as this nation. Capable of bulding tactical nuclear missle. Has two uranium producing nuclear power plants at Karachi and Sargodha. Concentration of troops largely in the disputed Kashmir region at the north where there is a face-off with India who claim the same teritory. Most of these units are vets. Has a large numbers of guerillas and Jihadi(trigger Golden Age). Important note, Pakistan oil output insufficient for domestic and military use, requires import from neighbouring Iran i.e. you're vulnerable. No oil means no tanks, planes and ships! Should consider seizing oil facility early in the game from India near Ahmadabad. Payment of 20gp/turn to Iran to simulate oil trade support and 5gp/turn to China for technical support on Pakistan's tank technology(learnt from China). Primary tank  is chinese type-90 (assembled locally as Al-Khalid) with a larger proportion of older T-55 and a smaller number of newer Russian purchased T-80UDs. Control the region and be the sole dominant force such that no one can take you as a pushover.

2) India - lead by PM Atal Behari Vajpayee
A juggernaut state of 1.2 billion, 8 times more than Pakistan. Tanks, artilery pieces, infantry, surface fleet are all double in terms of number to Pakistan. In dispute with Pakistan and China over parts of Kashmir. Controls 2/3 of Kashmir and it's two biggest cities, Srinagar and Jammu. Primary tank force T-72 and a large number of older T-55s. Possesed a small number of Russian T-90s. In this scenario only upper part of India represented. If these key area of the Ganges River Basin is captured, India is considered decapitated and beaten.

3) China - lead by President Hu Jintao.
Traditionally your ally against India. Pakistan has technological  contracts and support from China. Only Tibet and Western desert province of Xinjiang represented. Has ballistic missile capability i.e. ICBMs! Most advance in science among all other regional nation. China is partly embroiled with Kashmir issue as they claimed sections of it vs India (vicinicty of Dabongliutan). You don't want China to be your enemy if you cannot handle ICBM attacks! Liberating China-held Kashmir and Tibet and also your oppressed Muslim brothers in the Xinjiang province sounds like noble thing to do. Not easy though :)

4) Afghanistan - lead by President Hamad Karzai.
Central government still shaky and still require security from the US military. But the Afghan government will not allow the US forces in Afghan to strike Pakistan, a no-go. You will see a limited number of Marines, M1A2s and modern forces in neighbouring Afghan. These are not buildable by Afghan, once destroyed, not replaceable. Main Afghan units are guerilla, riflemen and horseback Mujahedin (GA unit).

5) Iran - lead by clerical council of Ayatollah Ali Hoseini Khamenei.
Elected council still weak compared to the non-elected clerical council who wields the real power. Loathes the US. Has excess oil for export. Pakistan-Iran relations is peaceful somewhat, just occasional tension from different Muslim tribes. You would want to keep Iran as an ally for as long as you can until the day you want a 'buffer province' to face American-influenced Iraq that is Iran's western neighbour.

6) Arabia States - lead by King Amir Hamid of Qatar.
These are actualy individual states of Qatar, UAE and Oman; all pro-western monarchy government with established US and British based in their country. Doha, capital of Qatar in particular are the centre of US military base. Offensive units from Arabia are essentialy American. We have USS Kitty Hawk, USS Abraham Lincoln and USS Constellation carrier groups to face against. The stealth planes F-117A Nighthawks and B-2 Spirits are sure to rock your southern cities  continously as well as the unchallenged superiority of F-15 Eagles. Good luck! One consolation, the US did not deploy nuclear arms in this region. Defeating this states will deprive the West from a major staging base in this region, a crippling move.

7) Nepal - lead by King Gyanendra.
Weak militarily, struggling against Mao rebels who is against the constitutional monarchy government. Lacks modern army but the highlands are not a pleasant place to fight. The tile east of capital Katmandu followed by NE is considered Mount Everest bordering China. World's holiest Hindu temple located in Nepal. Consolidation of this small land-locked state in the midst of a will-be greater Pakistan (ahem!) should bring about greater prosperity to the people, so says Musharraf... that is YOU!

8) Bangladesh - lead by PM Khaleda Zia.
Known as East Pakistan before, it is now time to reunite our Muslim brotherhood at the Ganges delta that is separated geographically by India! Enough said.

9) Ex-Soviet States - lead by President Emomali Rahmonov
These are consolidation of three former Soviet republic; Tajikistan,  Turkmenistan and a very minor part of Uzbekistan. Capital considered at Tajikistan's Dushanbe, secondary capital at Askhabad of Turkmenistan. These states secretly possesed nuclear arms that was not turn over to Russian during the dissolution of USSR. Not capable of ICBM though. Musharraf says "let us consolidate 10million of people of these poor Muslim brotherhood states that is suffering in the unforgiving arid land of central Asia." Turkmenistan has oil facilities near Caspia Sea, a bonus. 


STARTING MOVES:-
==============

The following steps describe what was done to the 1st turn of the *.sav file.

1) Contact Arab and exchange map. (note there an explorer beside each AI capital that was disbanded after making contact.)
2) Successfully plant spy in India embassy.
3) Establish embassies in Arab and India.
4) Exchange WM+560gp+Arab-contact for India's WM.
5) Nuke SW tile of Agra (same location where a tactical nuke is placed) resulting in declaration of war. Arab declare war in Regent file.
6) For Deity sav, second failed attempt to plant spy resulting in declaration of war from Arab. In Monarch sav, planting spy didn't fail so I have to declare war on Arab. Thus at this point Pakistan is at war with India and Arab.
7) Contact and exchange WM will Bangladesh, Nepal, Afghanistan and  ex-Soviets States.
8) Contact China, exchange WM+60gp for China's map.
9) Then contact Iran and exchange WM+1800gp+all contacts for WM+Oil.
10) Give all civ WM and contacts for everybody.
11) Established embassies in all AI capitals.
12) Set research to 0%, set research path to Miniaturization, set a lone scientist research at 80 turns/research.
13) Give 20gp/t as gifts to Iran and 5gp/t to China. Have to reload file before I could do this, dunno why! Else AI won't accept any gp/t deals. Strange, considering that the 'preserve random seed' in on (perhaps that only affect battle not diplomacy). This will help make Iran 'polite' but China remain furious. This action is to make Iran and China more likely to be on your side during war with India.
NOTE:- Step 2) and 3) order not always true, need to retry a few possible paths to get spy planting successful in India at 1st try.

LAST WORDS:-
==========

Have spent considerable of time creating map and city placement to make it as close it can be to the real thing. Some city location is shifted slightly so that I could 'squeeze in' one more important city within the limits of the map edge. Railroading is done sparingly according to the location in the atlas as well as airport placements.

India behave exactly what I expect in-game, huge number of infantry and tanks bursting thru your borders, hence needing nuke warheads to hold them back. Take special note that enemy tanks can move 3 tiles into your teritory especially where it is roaded till the border, risking almost half of your major cities. You need to look after your supply of oil. In a nuclear war, an AI-Civ would not declare war on you when you use nuke against a country that she is already at war with. For every nuke India launches, more and more country will declare war against her. Once war is declared on India by a particular Civ, they won't mind you using nukes against India. KEEP THIS IN MIND! You would rather not in war with Iran (oil) and China(ICBM attacks)! To make them have favourable perception of you, be generous to them and tie 'em them down with gp/t deals. Make them hate India by embargo deals etc so they would more likely to declare war on India.

When you cannot secure Oil through trade, secure one by force before you run out of tanks! Strongest non-tank attacking unit is the commando. Remember that you can still build nukes if you lose Oil, but it will be a defensive war. In this case, you have to rely on Commando  for offense combined with Calvary for additional mobility.  

Another advice, plan your counterattacks. Capturing Kashmir region in NW India will secure you a lot of happiness wonders, crucial for moral boosting in your democracy regime. Capturing the immediate east will protect your major cities from constant direct threat. While capturing south will secure an oilfield in the deserts of Ahmadabad. Also, check India's troop composition using F3-hotkey to keep track of how many tanks or planes they have as you have an agent in India.

Workers are handy to clean up the nuclear pollutants and quickly rebuilt destroyed infrastructure especially road to enable better  defensive mobility. Do not underestimate the power of single turn unit  relocation as you have limited units to defend all your border cities. Buy workers with gold+gpt deals so that if some civ declare war on you, they lose out if they are the one who sell you slaves!

I was playing the Deity sav file till about turn #10 now with NO RELOADS since once I began. I have lost 4 Pakistani cities to razing, one to nuke and three to under-defending... and I believe I'm doing not too bad as I have conquered key portions of India as well and blunted their ferocious attacks. Have detonated over a dozen nukes, at least five rushed from leaders. Epi-centre of blast should be selected well to take out multiple cities and maximum casualties. Also good for tearing up roads so that it makes enemy counterattacks difficult on your newly gain ground. Do not give up when your cities are razed one after another! There is so many more for you to claim back on the map!
